Omari Elias Wins Gatorade Kansas Football Player of the Year

After a successful football season on and off the field, Omari Elias received the distinguished title of Gatorade Kansas Football Player of the Year Jan. 3. Elias became the first Crusader to be chosen, and joined a select list of athletes who have received the honor. 

The award celebrates the nation’s top high school athletes who obtain excellence on the field, in the classroom and in their community. During the 2023 season, Elias rushed for 3,109 yards and 40 touchdowns and was a key part of KMC’s path to the 5A State Championship game. Off the field, Elias is the vice president of the National Honor Society and maintains a weighted 4.01 GPA. Elias will continue his football career at the United States Air Force Academy next fall.
