The girls golf team finished the year as 5A state champions, for the fourth consecutive year. State medalists were Ximena Sarinana, first place; Ava Truong, seventh; Tilly Jones, 11th; and Maddy Cartwright, 13th. Sarinana won the individual state championship in a three-hole playoff. In the last 10 seasons, the girls golf team has won eight state championships. KMC also became the first team in Kansas history to win two four-peats, which included the 2013-2016 championships.
The Crusaders were also regional champs and City League champions. At regionals Oct. 10, the team won by seven strokes, and Sarinana placed first with a 71. Jones placed fifth and Truong, 12th. At the City League tournament, Sarinana also placed first. Jones placed third; Truong, fifth; Victoria Penaloza, eighth; Cartwright, ninth; and Claire Runyan, 11th.
