The mission of the Crusader Advocacy Program, or CAP, is to provide students a school family where they are known, loved, and valued through personal relationships and faith formation.
Not unlike our feeder schools that have Teacher Advisory (TA) time, students within the Crusader Advocacy Program are sorted into “Houses” and then into smaller groups known as “Families,” with a faculty member as the family advisor. Families meet on a daily basis, with a different theme or focus each day.
Here are some CAP specifics:
Kapaun Mt. Carmel has eight Houses, each House named after a different saint.
Each House includes six smaller groups called Families, with one faculty member (not necessarily a teacher they currently have) as the family advisor.
Each Family is a randomly selected, mixed-level group with approximately five freshmen, five sophomores, five juniors and five seniors.
CAP meets daily for approximately 20 minutes. Families meet after their second class of the day on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, and Families sit together at Wednesday Mass.
In CAP, students work on interpersonal skills, wellness, faith formation, and community building.
Additionally, Houses compete against each other to win the House of the Year (HOTY) competition. Students earn points for their House by attending various school events and participating in yearly food drives.
