Concurrent Credit & AP Classes
Concurrent Credit
Each year, a dozen or so courses are offered that allow students the opportunity to earn college credit hours as well as high school credits, all for a lower cost that typical college courses. Enrollment in the course's sponsoring college (Newman University, Friends University or Wichita State University) is also required. University admission specialists will host enrollment meetings at KMC, and KMC counselors will assist students in meeting the university's requirements.

Some of the classes above are also AP (Advanced Placement) Courses. Students should attempt to gain college credit through either concurrent credit or by taking the AP test, but not both.
Advanced Placement (AP) Exams:
The College Board, the company that produces the PSAT and SAT exams, also authors Advanced Placement exams.
These tests grant college placement and/or credit to students with qualifying scores. The KMC counselors administer the exams to interested Kapaun Mt. Carmel students in May. Students must sign up in the Counseling Department in the spring so that the tests may be ordered.
A score of 3, 4, or 5 may earn college credit depending upon the individual requirements of each college. A separate testing fee is required for the AP exams.
Other College Credit:
Students can also earn college credit while enrolled at Kapaun Mt. Carmel by enrolling in WSU Tech (St. Joseph WSU Tech Pathway), St. Gianna's Catholic Health Academy (St. Gianna Healthcare Pathway) or the Teaching Academy (Sr. Kathleen Gilbert, BVM Education Pathway), or by completing the Project Lead the Way required courses.
