On Jan. 5, the varisty boys basketball team played rivals Bishop Carroll. When the teams met previously on Jan. 5, Kapaun Mt. Carmel beat Carroll 40-35   This time, however, they lost 56-58.

“We won the first game and the second game we came out a little flat,” coach Bernie Pearson said. “The game had some unfair refferees but that should not have affected the outcome. We should have executed more and kept our heads on straight.”

Whether disaster forces itself upon other countries or places nearer to home, everyone feels the responsibility of recovering the loss.

Recently, Kapaun Mt. Carmel students have been asked to donate money to the Haiti Emergency Relief Organization Fund (HERO) and the Katherine Drexel Fund.

After the 7.0 earthquake hit Haiti, students put together the HERO Fund. Envelopes were passed, Spirit Day passes were made and Mass funds were collected. With no particular goal in mind, HERO was able to raise $4,720 dollars.

Money was sent to Catholic Relief Services (CRS) to their on-location position in Haiti.
