Kapaun Mt. Carmel Catholic High School Athletic Director Mark Carney announced today that KMC Senior Meredith Matthies has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend and swim for the University of Nebraska-Lincoln next fall.
Meredith is a 4-year varsity starter for KMC. She owns all eight of Kapaun Mt. Carmel’s individual swim event records. They are:
- 50 Freestyle
- 100 Freestyle
- 200 Freestyle
- 100 Butterfly
- 100 Backstroke
- 100 Breaststroke
- 200 Invidual Medley
- 500 Freestyle
Some of Meredith’s significant accomplishments during the last four years include:
FRESHMAN YEAR (2003-04)
City League Champion: 100 Freestyle
200 Freestyle
State Runner Up: 50 Freestyle
Third Place State: 100 Freestyle
Named First Team All-City and First Team All-State
SOPHOMORE YEAR (2004-05)

Meredith is a member of the team which holds the Missouri Valley record for the 400 Medley Relay. She qualified for Junior Nationals in 2005, 2006 and 2007.
Meredith is the daughter of Kenneth and Susan Matthies. At this time she is undecided as to her field of study at the University of Nebraska.
