2007 Kansas 5A State
Powerlifting Championships

On March 17, Kapaun Mt. Carmel Catholic High School was the host for the state 5A Powerlifting Championships. The event was held in the KMC gymnasium.
More than 170 students from all over the state competed in this championship event. In addition to the team from KMC, teams from Salina Central, Salina South, Liberal, Gardner-Edgington, Winfield and Valley Center were on hand for the competition.
The students competing included 150 boys and 24 girls in a variety of weight classes.
The Powerlifting Championships were a KMC Booster Club-sponsored event, and served as a fundraiser for that organization. The majority of the revenues from the event were earned from registration fees on behalf of the participants. Concessions and tee-shirt sales accounted for the balance.
Coach Dan Adelhardt and Susan Rolfes recruited over 72 volunteers who served as judges, scorers and concession stand/tee-shirt workers. Judges were placed in teams of three, with each judge being assigned a particular aspect of the participant’s lift to judge. All members of the judging team were trained in all aspects of the judging and in insuring the safety of the participants.
Thanks to all who helped put on this event!!
